I spent 3 weeks in 2007 and 2008 volunteering in the Gulf Coast. This blog originally documented 2 of those trips to New Orleans. It now lives on as a place I continue to process the state of NOLA post-K.
You must be the change you want to see in the world.
~Mahatma Gandhi
Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary.
IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING.

Hey, thanks for coming. We really appreciate it.
BTW, I moved back to NOLA in 1994 from an apartment in Kirkland on Lake Washington Blvd, right on the water, walking distance from downtown. What the heck was I thinking?
Ashley - Kirkland is really nice, although I'm partial to downtown Seattle.
I understand the lure. New Orleans has a charm that you can't deny. I went down several times with my family before the storm and fell in love with your city. It's beautiful and has so much character.
